As an educational CEO, private equity investment partner and the chair of the Sarasota County Democratic Party, Rita Ferrandino brings together a unique combination of more than 25 years of experience in the education industry with the political connections and savvy needed to shape government policies and decision making at the federal, state and local level.
In the education world, Rita leads the team at Chicago Educational Publishing Company, the exclusive publisher and distributor of Science Companion. She is also a founding partner of Arc Capital Development, a private equity and advisory firm that invests in and operates companies in the education marketplace. Rita has led the sales, acquisition, alliance and marketing efforts for traditional print, technology, and online products for some of the industry’s largest publishers, and has been responsible for sales of more than $100 million to the higher education and K-12 markets. Prior to her roles at Arc and Chicago Educational Publishing Company, Rita was a senior partner at KnowledgeQuest Education Group and previously held positions at Technotects, Thompson Publishing and Addison Wesley Longman Publishing, a Pearson Education company.
In the past decade, Rita has taken an active interest and role in local, state and federal politics and education policymaking. As the Executive Director of the Elementary Science Coalition since 2007, she has worked to build federal support for elementary science education. In 2007, Rita was elected by unanimous consent as Chair of the Sarasota County Democratic Party. She was also elected as a delegate to the 2008 Democratic National Convention, and was highlighted as a chosen delegate by The New York Times in a video profile. The Sarasota Herald-Tribune named Rita one of its “8 in 2008 to Watch,” and she has been profiled in SRQ Magazine, as well as appearing as the cover story in the February 2009 West Coast Woman Newspaper. Rita continues to serve as the chair of the Sarasota County Democratic Party, and is a frequent guest on local radio and TV programs, including WEDU’s well-respected weekly public affairs program, Florida This Week.
Rita has an MBA and a BS in business management from Pennsylvania State University.
